Healthy Protein Gratitude Balls

While I didn’t actually make these balls with ingredients we produce here at the farm, there was a lot of farm love that went into them. Cat and I made these two types of protein balls for the owners of Anamaya and Paula the yoga teacher in thanks for allowing us to walk from the farm to yoga every day to join in with the Anamaya classes. We are getting so much from our experience on the farm, Cat honestly asked me today what I think we did in our past lives to deserve such happiness and good health. Every morning in practice so far I have meditated on my gratefulness. Spurred on by the day of silence my teacher Banyan had the class experience in my teachers training, I was keen to show the other volunteers how much you can learn from silence, but realized the silent yogi delivering raw protein balls was perhaps a little over the top! There are other days for silence yet to come.

Gluten Free Dairy Free, Mint Chocolate Super Food Balls
1 cup cashews
1 cup almonds
2 Tbsp Chia seeds
2 Tbsp flax (or hemp) seeds
3 Tbsp raw cacao powder
3 Tbsp coconut oil
3 Tbsp honey (can reduce sugar by one and increase honey by one also)
1 tsp spirulina
½ tsp peppermint extract (can supplement with 10 drops of peppermint essential oil)
Combine cashews, almonds, chia and flax seeds together in a food processor until well ground. Add remaining ingredients until well combined. When a suitable consistency to be packed into yummy balls, go for it!

Nutty Nutty Nutty Sugar Free Chocolate Balls
1 cup cashews
1 cup almonds
½ cup sesame seeds
½ cup chopped raisins
½ cup peanut butter (we use the natural organic stuff we buy at the weekly Montezuma Farmers Market which is literally just roasted and ground peanuts)
2 spoons honey
3 Tbsp coconut oil
2Tbsp raw cacao powder
First blend the cashews, almonds sesame seeds and raisins together in food processor until well ground. Add remaining ingredients, and pack into balls. Yummy yummy, especially if you are a nut lover like my self. What a great substitute to having a handful of nuts, why not have a ball?!
