Watermelon (Sandia)

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

This huge watermelon was super sweet and tasty, and grew from a vine that we didn’t plant. The seed was leftover in the dirt from watermelons planted last season, and those were from a watermelon taken from a vine we found randomly growing on the farm.

Whatever species it is, obviously it likes our soil, so we’re going with it.

So far, we’ve had few bug problems in our watermelons, but need to add a lot if compost around the base of the vine as it grows, to create biggies like this one. They have also grown better in dry season.
