What’s Growing at Rancho Delicioso
Gallery of Edible Plants That Will Grow in Costa Rica
Polyculture with Sweet Potato Invasion
Finally I’ve been able to find the right way to display most of what we’re growing here at Rancho Delicioso. I was guessing that it must be up to 100 different edible plants, but it’s far more than that.
As of this writing, many of them are still experimental and we aren’t yet able to produce them in large quantities all year. Some will grow only in dry season, or wet season. Others, such as Kale, grow extremely well in dry season, but in wet season are much slower. We believe it would be very helpful to have an “open greenhouse” which means a structure that is open on the sides, but has a translucent roof, to let in most of the light, but able to keep out the rain. Currently this is something that we can’t afford to do in a large size.
Clicking the photos below will open them up to much larger, beautiful versions in a scrolling gallery so you can flip through them easily. Eventually I’d like to link each to its own article.
All of these photos currently showing were taken within the same week in March, 2014.
