\"Permaculture<\/a>People often ask us who lives here, so here’s some info to answer that question.<\/p>\n

Many people who have traveled around Costa Rica visiting various eco-villages have noted that Rancho Delicioso is different in that we have a lot of people who actually live here, or plan to be here at least half the time. Many of the other projects end up with a lot of people who set up vacation-rental type situations, which doesn’t make for a strong community short-term. We also have a wide variety of ages, with everyone from young children to people who have retired down here.<\/p>\n

Lot 1:<\/strong> This is owned by an amazing man named Joe Pacal, who will bring a youth volunteer program from a Navajo reservation in Arizona to experience another culture, the tropics, permaculture, and some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Joe previously lived in Hawaii. Now he’s of retirement age but is going strong and very active in permaculture and volunteering.<\/p>\n

Lot 2:\u00a0<\/strong>Pippa<\/p>\n

Lot’s 3-9, 17, 18, 24, 25, 28, 40 and 59:<\/strong> green zone, community orchards and projects.<\/p>\n

Lots 11 & 12:<\/strong> Meet the Jordans! Inspired by examples they saw in L.A., Ken and JIVANA own The Green Wave House, an eco-show home. They are open to public showings by RSVP or by invitation, with occasional events.<\/p>\n

Ken is a former and accoladed recording engineer and electronic music artist (one half of the band, The Crystal Method).\u00a0 His accolades most notoriously include two Grammy nominations for best album and a platinum record.\u00a0 Outside of the dance music industry, many people know of his band for the theme song to the TV show \u201cBones\u201d.\u00a0 Ken is now known for many other things in the community.\u00a0 He is the host of our weekly \u201cmovie night\u201d.\u00a0 Rancho Delicioso residents are invited to their home on Tuesdays at 6:30pm.\u00a0 He has become our water leader on the East side of the farm.\u00a0 He is our teacher of \u201cKensanity,\u201d a HIIT workout he offers for free 3x\/week on the main Rancho Delicioso yoga deck.\u00a0 He is now a multi-medaled triathlete, 2x reigning champion of Puntarenas, and will be representing Costa Rica at the World Triathlon Championship Finals in Spain (October of 2024).<\/p>\n

JIVANA is a writer, mermaid, and acts like our village priestess.\u00a0 She has occasional spiritual offerings, including yoga and tantra workshops, and is available for various spiritual services related to Life and Death.\u00a0 She and Ken are known for the new annual traditions they have established.\u00a0 Momento Oro celebrates a blooming tree. Frody Fest is a 3-day intimate and playful gathering with their late cat as a mascot. It also serves as a Death-doula event in disguise.\u00a0 She runs the nonprofit Green Wave, which supports local projects such as the school, Futuro Verde, and Wild Sun Rescue Center (the only wildlife rescue and rehabilitation facility within a 300km radius of our area).\u00a0 You have Wild Sun to thank if you see (or probably hear) the iconic scarlet macaws in the Rancho Delicioso trees.\u00a0 This is the direct work of their scarlet macaw reintroduction program.\u00a0 Other campaigns run under Green Wave are Permaculture Pinup, Permaculture Party Club, and Mermaids for Modoc.<\/p>\n
